The long-term dynamic increase in demand for the dispatch of express shipments also affects the Leipzig/Halle airport site in particular via the traffic handled there. As a result, the need to expand the flight operation areas became foreseeable – the reason for a corresponding planning procedure.
Intraplan provided the extensive traffic forecasting data required for the necessary assessment process. For a holistic picture of the expected future of flight operations, these included not only cargo but also the other traffic segments (passenger traffic and general aviation). The forecasts show both the capacity requirements to be determined on the demand side and the traffic effects to be expected with the planned expansion. These findings in turn serve as a starting point for additional impact analyses to be carried out for a well-founded assessment of the planned measure – in particular with regard to aircraft noise.
After several years of monitoring the procedure as part of the preparation of the necessary documents for the 15th plan amendment procedure by Intraplan, this has now been largely completed with the present amendment plan approval decision.
